For many people this will be the first time that you would have natural stone fitted in and around the home.
Marble floors, granite worktops, travertine patios, can look stunning when new, but need regular maintenance to keep them looking at their best.
Newly fitted stone is rarely sealed and should be done as soon as possible as food, drink spills, oil, water, can leave permanent stains.
By sealing the surface you will be protecting, and prolonging the life of the stone. This will become the first part of regular maintenance as although the stone is now sealed, through time and usage the sealer will deteriorate, and need to be re-applied.
RECOMMENDED REGULAR FLOOR MAINTAINANCE
Wet mop and polish will keep surface looking good, However, any wet cleaning should be done using water or use a specialist cleaner recommended for the type of stone.
Household cleaners should NOT be used as they may contain harmful chemicals, which can react with the minerals within the stone and damage or stain it.
All spills should be wiped-up immediately.
Hard wet clean/scrub is recommended to remove stubborn grime followed by a high-speed polish.
Resurfacing polish using specialist grinding pads will remove light scratches, stains, and bring the luster back to the stone.
If a floor has been laid un-evenly leaving lippage between tiles or is badly scratched/stained a full grind is advised. The complete floor will be ground down using diamond discs leaving a completely new exposed surface. Of course it will now need sealing again!
